Since the data handling incident in November 2007 it has become obvious that there needs to be a lot of improvement in the levels of awareness and understanding around information assurance and information management.

There are some resources available to UK Local authorities free of charge, notably through the National School of Government and Government Connect. Links to these resources are displayed on this page.

In addition, some of the CoCo requirements demand specialist knowledge. We have highlighted some specialist commercial training offerings which directly support aspects of Data Handling and support the knowledge required to impliment a GCSx connection. Again these course are listed on this page. However, these commercial listings are not exhaustive and we will continue to highlight relevant training courses and events which will be of interest to local authority colleagues.
