Handling Sensitive Faxes

On 24th November 2010, details of the first two fines issued by the Information Commissioner emerged. One of these fines was issued to a Sheffield based company who lost an unencrypted laptop containing details of thousands of people. The second fine of £100,000 was issued to Hertfordshire County Council. This was for two incidents, both of which involved sending information to an incorrect recipient via fax

Most data handling guidance focuses on informatoin which is stored in a computer and overlooks information stored on paper. This guidance suggests ways in which restricted faxes should be handled.
